5 Ways to Get Rid of Funky Smells in the Kitchen

|

Sometimes you just can’t get rid of lingering odors. Luckily, there are ways to make those common smells disappear to make your kitchen feel fresh again.

1. Lemon and Lime Rinds

If the garbage disposal smells sour, toss in lemon or lime rinds while it's running. Flush it through with cold water.

2. Baking Soda

Whoops! You forgot to clean out your refrigerator again and your food has spoiled. To prevent a wave of stench when opening the fridge, store a box of baking soda on a shelf inside to absorb the smell

3. Dryer Sheets

Can’t figure out a way to keep the garbage stink from taking over the kitchen? Stick a few dryer sheets at the bottom of the trash can (and underneath the garbage bag) to mask the odor.

4. Vinegar

No matter how many times you run the dishwasher, those plates still come out stinky. First, check to make sure no food is stuck in the machine. Once the area is clear, pour vinegar into the bottom and let sit before running another full cycle.

5. Hot Water (and a few other ingredients)

If your whole home needs a pick-me-up, bowl hot water in a pot on the stove. Create a simmering potpourri by adding in ingredients, such as cinnamon sticks, vanilla, lavender leaves, and other spices.
