WALNUT CREEK, CA - February 20, 2024 - Sequoia Equities proudly announces the removal of breed restrictions for dogs at its apartment communities, reaffirming its commitment to fostering inclusivity and providing a welcoming environment for all residents and their furry companions.
Effective immediately, residents and future residents of Sequoia communities will no longer face breed restrictions when it comes to their beloved dogs. This monumental decision reflects Sequoia's dedication to promoting a pet-friendly atmosphere and recognizes the unique bond between residents and their pets.
According to the American Pet Products Association, approximately 65 million U.S. households own a pet, with 25%-30% of them owning a breed considered restricted among many apartment communities. Sequoia's new pet policy ensures that all well-behaved pets have a place to call home, regardless of their breed.
"We are thrilled to announce the removal of breed restrictions at our communities. Sequoia was one of the first to have a pet policy that did not have weight restrictions, but to be truly pet-friendly, this was a change that needed to be made," said Justin Choi, Sr. Director of Marketing at Sequoia. "As a dog lover myself, and owner of a German Shepherd, I know how loving and trainable dogs can be regardless of their breed. This policy update not only acknowledges that, but also will provide more housing options for pet owners who feel like they have limited options. Sequoia will also take this opportunity to partner with local businesses in the pet industry to promote responsible pet ownership from training to health, and even grooming."
Sequoia has long been known for its pet-friendly approach, offering a wide range of amenities and perks tailored to meet the needs of both residents and their furry friends. From spacious Bark Parks and Paw Spas to pet-centric resident events, Sequoia goes above and beyond to ensure that pets feel right at home. Additionally, Sequoia’s PAWS (Pet Appreciation with Sequoia) program reimburses residents up to $250 if they adopt a dog or cat from a local shelter or humane society. With this policy update, Sequoia hopes that more pets at local shelters are able to find their forever home.
