Sequoia Equities Wins Big at 2024 Pet and Housing Awards

Walnut Creek, CA - July 25, 2024 – Sequoia Equities has been honored with three prestigious recognitions at the 2024 Pets and Housing Awards by Michelson Found Animals Foundation. These accolades recognize the company's commitment to creating pet-friendly communities and its innovative approaches to integrating pets into the apartment community experience. These awards include:

  • Most Creative Pet-Centered Event
  • Most Innovative Pet Marketing Campaign
  • Best Leap Forward Award (10,000+ units)

The 2024 Pets and Housing Awards, sponsored by the Michelson Found Animals Foundation, is an annual virtual ceremony that celebrates rental housing operators who are setting new standards in pet inclusivity. This event highlights the efforts of industry leaders making rental communities more welcoming for pet owners, reflecting the growing demand for pet-inclusive housing.

Sequoia launched two new campaigns this year, focusing on pet adoption and removing breed restrictions from most of its apartment communities. These campaigns featured pet-centered activations for residents to enjoy, helping to secure these recognitions.

“Today’s rental housing market is full of pet-friendly options, but we wanted to ensure that our communities weren’t just pet-friendly. Our goal was to be pet-inclusive,” states Justin Choi, Sequoia’s Sr. Director of Marketing & Technology. “By removing breed restrictions, Sequoia is adopting a pet-inclusive model that provides all dogs the ability to call Sequoia home. All that we ask for is that all dogs and their owners follow our pet rules. To help with this, we have partnered with local shelters, trainers, veterinarians, and even groomers to help promote responsible pet ownership. It is never easy to be one of the first companies to launch a program like this, but so far it has been well received by our customers and across social media.”

The need for pet-inclusive housing is more important than ever, and recognizing those who lead this movement is crucial. Sequoia is honored to be among the trailblazers enhancing the quality of life for pets and their owners and setting a benchmark in the housing industry. Their initiatives foster stronger resident relationships, increase resident retention, reduce pet abandonment, and promote responsible pet ownership.

By celebrating these achievements, the awards aim to encourage more rental housing operators to adopt pet-inclusive practices. This ensures that more pets can find loving homes without their owners having to sacrifice suitable housing.
